We are committed to continuing education. Our staff continually updates their education in the areas of patient care best practices; new orthotic, prosthetic, and material technologies; and regulatory and compliance standards for providing health care.
Brett is a Florida licensed and Certified Prosthetist Orthotist credentialed by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics.
Brett entered the field of prosthetics and orthotics in 1981 as a technician for Bremer Brace Company in Orlando, Florida. He found a calling in this field and appreciates the impact his work has on people’s lives.
He graduated from Florida International University’s Prosthetic and Orthotic Program in 1991 and became a credentialed Certified Orthotist Prosthetist in 1993.
In 1997 Brett joined NovaCare Prosthetics and Orthotics and rose to the position of Clinical Operations Director and Upper Extremity Prosthetic Specialist and the Florida area member of the National Upper Extremity Prosthetic Program Team.
Brett was a member of the inaugural class of practitioners to earn the designation of Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists in 1998. He also became an Examiner for the American Board for Certification, administering the Clinical Patient Management examination for candidates seeking national certification in prosthetics and orthotics.
In April 2008, Brett opened Saunders Prosthetics and Orthotics Group in The Villages. He enjoys having a smaller practice where he can spend time with his patients and provide a higher level of care.
In 2013, Brett was honored to receive a gubernatorial appointment to the Florida Board of Orthotists and Prosthetists by Governor Rick Scott. Governor Ron DeSantis reappointed him to the Board.
In 2018, Brett joined the Board of Directors for the American Board for Certification, serving as the organization’s president for 2022.
Brett has been trained in many procedures and the latest technology advances in orthotic and prosthetic care.
He has travelled internationally, including to Ukraine, providing prosthetic care to war wounded members of their military and teaching advanced techniques to local prosthetists.
Brett actively donates time to advance the prosthetics and orthotics profession as well as working with young people in community sports programs.
Chelsea is a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist as well as a Certified Mastectomy Fitter, credentialed by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics. Chelsea earned her degree at Furman University and completed her Orthotic and Prosthetic Training at Northwestern University.
She joined the clinical care team at Saunders Prosthetics Orthotics Group to complete her resident training and begin her professional career. Chelsea earned her national credentials as a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist and a Certified Mastectomy Fitter.
She is one of the elite prosthetists in the United States to serve as an Examiner for the American Board for Certification, administering the Clinical Patient Management Examination to candidates seeking to earn their prosthetist certification.
Chelsea is based in our Lady Lake office to provide you the best care in America’s Friendliest Home Town.
Susan is our Office Manager, as well as a Certified Orthotic Fitter and Certified Mastectomy Fitter, credentialed by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics. She has a dual role in both clinical care, fitting orthotic devices, graduated compression garments, post-mastectomy fittings, and the office manager for our practice.
